AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey junior goaltender Michael Hrabal has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2026 Mike Richter Award, which is given annually to the top goalie in men's NCAA Division I hockey since 2014. Ten goaltenders have been chosen by a panel of 25 voters from across the hockey community. The group includes coaches from each conference, and independent school coaches, as well as members of the national media, professional scouts and representatives of USA Hockey.
Hrabal, a native of Prague Czechia is one of three goaltenders from Hockey East on the list and is the first-ever semifinalist from UMass. Following a second-half surge, Hrabal has bolstered his numbers to a 2.22 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage through 21 games with a 14-7-3 record. He has 584 saves in 1,240 minutes in his junior campaign.
Since January 1, Hrabal holds an 8-2-0 record with a 1.40 GAA and a .956 save percentage with 305 saves in 600 minutes in that span. The national goaltender of the month and Hockey East Player of the month for January, he broke a program record with 191 consecutive shutout minutes last month, as well.
Finalists will be announced in early March and the winner of this year's Mike Richter Award will be announced in April during the NCAA Frozen Four in Las Vegas.
