AMHERST, Mass. – Justin Kerr, a 6-5, 205-pound forward from Grand Rapids, Minnesota, will join University of Massachusetts hockey as a freshman for the 2025-26 season, head coach Greg Carvel announced on Thursday. Kerr is the third member of the Minutemen's class of 2029, joining forward Jack Galanek and defenseman Coleson Hanrahan.
"Justin is a big forward that plays both center and wing, said Carvel. "He plays the game the right way. He will bring maturity and hard skill to our forward group."
Kerr comes to UMass after a season with the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League (USHL) where he posted 15 points on six goals and nine assists in 38 games.
He previously played for the Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) where he logged 53 points on 28 goals and 25 assists, helping the Brahmas to a Robertson Cup championship in 2023-24. Kerr earned a spot on the NAHL All-Rookie First Team, as well.
