Massachusetts Hockey Announces Jack Galanek As First Member Of Incoming Freshman Class

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has added 6-0, 177-pound forward Jack Galanek to its incoming freshman class for 2025-26, head coach Greg Carvel announced on Monday. The Hopkinton, Massachusetts native is the first member of the Minutemen's class of 2029.
"Jack is a very smart and skilled forward from Massachusetts who plays the game the right way and can play in all situations," said Carvel. "He has had a successful two years in the USHL where he has proven to be a top forward along with being a great leader. He will be a great addition to our identity and culture."
Galanek played two-plus seasons in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for the Muskegon Lumberjacks and put up 88 points on 37 goals and 51 assists over 141 games from 2022-25. In his final year of junior hockey, he wore a letter for the Lumberjacks and helped the squad to the 2025 Clark Cup title, posting 50 points (22g, 28a) during the regular season and averaging a point per-game with three goals and 11 assists in the playoffs.
A 2023-24 USHL All-Academic Team selection, Galanek put up 11 goals and 11 assists on 22 points in his rookie campaign in Muskegon. Prior to being drafted by the Lumberjacks, he played youth hockey for Shattuck St. Mary's. He had a 100-point season at the U16 AAA level and won a USA Tier I 14U national championship in 2020-21.
