Massachusetts Hockey Adds Vaclav Nestrasil To Incoming Freshman Class

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has added 6-6, 185-pound forward Vaclav Nestrasil to its roster for the upcoming season, head coach Greg Carvel announced on Thursday. Nestrasil, who was 36th among North American skaters in the final NHL Central Scouting Rankings ahead of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, is the sixth member of the Minutemen's class of 2029, joining forwards joining forwards Jack Galanek, Justin Kerr, Lukas Klecka, A.J. Lacroix and defenseman Coleson Hanrahan.

"Vaclav is a right-shot forward that can play both center and wing," said Carvel. "He possesses an elite skill set at his size, has great vision and makes great plays with the puck.  He goes to the net and uses his size and ability to score goals around the net. Fans will enjoy watching Vaclav develop over the years."

Over parts of two seasons, Nestrasil played in 86 career games in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for the Muskegon Lumberjacks, totaling 55 points on 26 goals and 29 assists. In 2024-25, the Prague, Czechia native helped Muskegon win a Clark Cup championship as he posted 42 points (19g, 23a) in 61 regular season games and 13 points (7g, 6a) in 14 postseason contests.

Prior to coming over to North America, Nestrasil was a member of HC Sparta Praha's U17 squad. He also appeared in 12 games for Czechia's U17 national team, logging eight points on five goals and three assists.
