Softball Drops Two vs. Troy on Friday

TROY, Ala. -- Massachusetts (5-12) fell short in the first two games of a four-game slate against Troy (14-9) on Friday night.
The Minutewomen dropped game one of the day in a 7-0 decision. Lily Woodworth, Angie Rama, and Brooke Musch each tallied hits for Massachusetts. UMass stayed within striking distance for the majority of the contest, trailing by just two runs heading into the bottom of the sixth. However, the Trojans' bats would surge in their final appearance, sealing a 7-0 game.
Game two saw a duel in the circle, with both starters at the top of their games. Julianne Bolton showed out across six innings in game two, striking out seven batters and surrendering just two runs in her first appearance of the weekend. Troy's Alyssa Faircloth answered with a no-hitter, striking out nine batter en route to the 5-0 victory.
