UMass' Nestrasil Named Co-Hockey East Rookie Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Following his contributions to Massachusetts hockey's win at Stonehill last Friday, freshman forward Václav Nestrašil has been tabbed Co-Hockey East Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The honor marks the third for a member of the Minutemen this season and the first of Nestrašil's career.
In the 4-1 victory over the Skyhawks at Warrior Arena last week, Nestrašil registered a hat trick, which included two power-play goals. The three tallies came on seven shots for the Prague, Czechia, native, a team high. His performance marked the first hat trick by a UMass freshman since 2015 and he currently has four goals in three games to begin his collegiate career.
The Minutemen will be back in action this Friday, October 17, when the squad will play host to Northeastern in their Hockey East opener at the Mullins Center at 7 p.m.
