Women’s Soccer Pushes Undefeated Streak To Five With 3-0 Victory At Bryant

Minutewomen earn fourth clean sheet in five games, while picking up its third straight win.
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – University of Massachusetts women's soccer pushed its undefeated streak to five contests after defeating Bryant, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Beirne Stadium. It marked the fourth clean sheet for UMass in its last five games and third straight victory.
Massachusetts improved to 4-2-1 on the season, while Bryant dropped to 2-4-1 overall on the year.
Four Minutewomen earned two points each on the day, as senior forward Ashley Lamond, senior midfielder Bella Recinos and graduate student forward Grace Pinkus notched one goal each, while senior midfielder Emma Pedolzky totaled two assists.
UMass got on the board early in the first with a goal from Lamond in the eighth minute. Emma Pedolzky corralled a pass in the 18-yard box, before passing it forward to the right corner of the six-yard box. Lamond one-touched the ball with her left foot to bury it into bottom right of the net.
Recinos made it a 2-0 contest in the Minutewomen's favor, as a pass from Emma Pedolzky found its way to Recinos in the box. Recinos dribbled it a little bit before booting the ball into the top right of the goal.
During the second half, UMass continued to dominate offensively, recording its third goal of the match at the 49:17 mark. Senior forward Chandler Pedolzky headed a pass up from Lamond towards the six-yard box, which was gathered by Pinkus, as she sent it towards the back of the top left of the net for her first goal of the year.
Massachusetts outshot Bryant 5-2 in the first half, but the Bulldogs tallied nine to the Minutewomen's six in the final 45 minutes of the game to even the total shots out to 11 apiece.
Lamond led the team in shots with three, followed by Recinos with two, both on target. Pinkus, sophomore forward Caroline Dickson and freshman forward Sophia Foley added one shot each.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Bella Mendoza recorded her fourth shutout of the year, while collecting the 15th of her career, which tied her for eighth in the record book. Mendoza stopped three shots in 90 minutes of play without allowing a goal on the afternoon.
Massachusetts will take a week break before returning to the pitch on Sunday, September 15, for a home game at Rudd against UMass Lowell for Senior Day. The match is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+, with senior day festivities beginning prior to the start of the contest.
