Native of Chile will join UMass tennis for the 2025 season.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis and head coach Juancarlos Nunez announced the signing of Martina Pavissich for the 2025 season.
Pavissich hails from Santiago, Chile, and attends Complejo Educacional Le Reina. During her career, she ranked as high as No. 186 in the ITF Junior Ranking and currently ranks No. 259.
"We had a great connection with Martina from the beginning," said Nunez. "She is driven and committed to doing her best and continuing to improve. She's had a lot of experience and success competing at a high level in the ITF Junior Circuit. She is going to add a lot to our team, and we are excited to welcome her to UMass."
In South America, Pavissich was ranked No. 1 in the under-16 category. She qualified for and represented the Chilean National Team at the Billie Jean King Cup for two consecutive years. Pavissich was a champion and a runner-up in numerous ITF Junior events across South America.
"I chose UMass because it is a great place where I can be happy and be part of a great team," said Pavissich. "I had a very good connection with both coaches and that made me feel very comfortable. I am very happy to be part of this team and to be able to study what makes me happy."
Additionally, Pavissich has competed in the Junior Pan American Games and the Junior South American games.
"It's been great to get to know Martina," said assistant coach Hannah McColgan. "We are eager to see the ways in which Martina will contribute to the team both on and off the court as we head into another exciting season. Go UMass!"
