July 16, 2024 | Hockey
AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts has added 6-1, 181-pound right-shot defenseman Kazimier Sobieski to the squad for the 2024-25 season, head coach Greg Carvel announced on Tuesday. Sobieski, a Deerfield, Massachusetts native, joins forward Cameron Dunn, defensemen Francesco Dell'Elce, Daniel Jencko, Larry Keenan, Charlie Lieberman and Finn Loftus and goaltender James Norton as the eighth member of the Minutemen's incoming freshman class.
"Kazimier is from Deerfield, and we look forward to him being back in Western Mass," said Carvel. "He is a smooth skating right shot defenseman that possesses a heavy shot, while making a solid first pass."
Sobieski has appeared in 107 games for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League (USHL) from 2021 to 2024 while collecting 33 points on nine goals and 24 assists.
Prior to his tenure in Sioux Falls, Sobieski played four years at Shattuck St. Mary's, appearing in 186 games and racking up 104 points (27g, 77a) from 2018 to 2022.
