Field Hockey Adds Collier To 2024 Class

AMHERST, MASS – The University of Massachusetts field hockey program adds international transfer Bethan Collier, Head Coach Barb Weinberg and her staff announced Friday. Collier who signs with the Minutewomen out of Taunton, England becomes the eighth member of the 2024 recruiting class joining seven top freshman in Amherst this upcoming season.
Bethan Collier comes to Amherst from Bath Spa University and Swansea Hockey Club. A forward, Collier is a veteran of 75 appearances for Swansea, playing in every match both indoor and outdoor over three years. Collier has received multiple awards for her domestic performance including earning a Gold Medal at the 2023 EuroHockey Club Challenge II and 2022 EuroHockey Club Challenge III. The forward was also the second highest goal scorer at the 2022 EuroHockey Club Challenge III in Alanya, Turkey. A leader on and off the pitch, Collier was named a Vice Captain for the 2023-24 season.
Collier has represented Hockey Wales in international competition, joining the U18 National Team in 2019. She has been elevated to both U21 and U23 teams while also earning caps for the Senior Welsh indoor team. Collier was selected for the 2020 Senior European Indoor Championships in Zagreb, Croatia and the 2022 U21 Division A European Championships in Ghent, Belgium.
"I have chose UMass because I want to push and develop my hockey further," said Coller. "I always knew I wanted to go abroad after completing my undergraduate degree and the opportunity to come to the United States has come suddenly but it feels like the perfect fit."

Collier now makes it eight newcomers who will join a Minutewomen squad fresh off a 2023 campaign which saw them earn 13 wins and advance to the Atlantic 10 Championship Final. The 2024 class represents five different countries and three states.
