Three Minutewomen Named To IWLCA All-Region Teams

Audra Tosone was named first-team all-region for the second consecutive year while Jordan Dean and Fiona McGowan were named to the second team.

AMHERST, Mass. The University of Massachusetts women's lacrosse team landed three players on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Northeast Region Teams as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon. Audra Tosone was named first-team all-region for the second straight year while Jordan Dean and Fiona McGowan were named to the second team.
 
Tosone (Walpole, Mass.) earned her second straight Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year award after posting a team-leading 33 caused turnovers for a UMass team that finished the regular season ranked inside the top-30 nationally in scoring defense and caused turnovers per game. The two-time first-team all-Atlantic 10 selection became the second player in program history to record 100 or more caused turnovers in a career and finished her time with the Minutewomen with 114 caused turnovers to rank second all-time. Tosone was twice named the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week during the regular season and caused turnovers in nine games, including six against Davidson and four against both VCU and George Washington.
 
Dean (Greenbank, Ontario) set the NCAA Division I single season record for draw controls, breaking the previous mark of 221 while finishing the season with 261. The junior was named to the Atlantic 10 First-Team All-Conference squad after finishing with double-digit draw controls in 15-of-18 games, including a career-high 20 against VCU to go along with four performances with 19. The defender also set a new UMass single season record and ended her junior campaign with 445 draw controls for her career, trailing Hannah Murphy's (2014-17) 522 for the program's all-time record.
 
McGowan (Westwood, Mass.) posted a UMass single season record 56 assists to lead the Minutewomen while compiling a team-best 88 points on her way to being named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. The first-team all-conference selection finished the regular season ranked third among Division I leaders in assists per game and fifth in total assists. McGowan finished with multiple assists in 14-of-18 contests this season, including seven assists three times with a season-best 10 points coming on three goals and seven assists in a win over UConn. The attacker finished her career with 127 assists to rank third-most all-time at UMass while her 247 career points is fourth-most all-time.
