AMHERST, Mass. -- Massachusetts basketball continues a fruitful month of recruiting as Amadou Doumbia officially signs with the Minutemen, head coach Frank Martin announced Wednesday.

Amadou Doumbia, who will reclassify to the class of 2024, will come to Amherst this fall as a three-star recruit from Bamako, Mali. Doumbia ranked as a top-25 center nationally and the no. 4 player out of the state of Connecticut. Currently playing for Putnam Science Academy (Putnam, CT) Doumbia chose Massachusetts over offers from Washington State, St. Bonaventure and Rhode Island among others.

Spending time in Spain, Doumbia also has experience playing for Zentro Basket Madrid and the Real Madrid U18 team. Doumbia has also represented his home nation, suiting up for Mali at the FIBA U18 African Championship.

Doumbia joins Nate Guerengomba, Lewis Walker, and Luka Damjanac as part of the Massachusetts 2024 recruiting freshman class. Including the transfer trio of Akil Watson, Daniel Rivera and Malek Abdelgowad, the 2024 incoming class now includes six players ranked as at least a three-star recruit.
