Second Varsity 8 Leads Way At Saint Joseph's Invitational

The team raced at the Saint Joseph's Invitational at Overpeck Park

LEONIA, N.J. - The Second Varsity 8 paced the Massachusetts rowing team on Saturday at the Saint Joseph's Invitational at Overpeck Park in Leonia, New Jersey. 

Massachusetts' Second Varsity 8 finished in a time of 8:11.424 to place first among all three heats, besting Columbia, Navy, Marist, Rhode Island, George Washington, Bucknell, UConn and Saint Joseph's. 

"Overpeck offered up the opportunity for us to travel with our entire team and it was a chance for every member of our team to race," head coach Eric Carcich said. "In addition, we were able to see three of our top A-10 opponents in George Washington, Rhode Island, and Saint Joseph's in some windy racing conditions. Last week the fours group found their footing in Sarasota and built off that this week. It was exciting to see our JV squad find the same momentum by beating all three A-10 opponents over the course of the day. While the varsity is still working to find their rhythm, they are committed to the process, and we'll get it right when it matters. Looking forward to getting back to work on Monday."
