Tennis Returns Home For A-10 Action Against Richmond, George Washington

The Minutewomen host the Spiders on Saturday, April 6, before welcoming the Revolutionaries on Sunday, April 7.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis returns to Amherst for two Atlantic 10 matches, hosting the University of Richmond on Saturday, April 6, before welcoming  George Washington University on Sunday, April 7. Both matches will begin at 1 p.m., with Saturday's match played at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center. Sunday's contest will either be played at Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center or the Mullins Center Tennis Courts.
 
Last Time Out
The Minutewomen fell to UConn in a close 4-3 decision on Wednesday afternoon to move to 8-7 overall. 
 
The Huskies notched the doubles point, but the Minutewomen battled back in singles competition, earning wins at courts No.3, No. 4 and No. 6. Faessler defeated her opponent in three sets, 6-0, 2-6, 6-4, at No. 3, before Campino recorded a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 4 singles. Alexandra O'Brien fought hard in three sets to claim the point at court No. 6, taking down her opposition, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3. UConn, though, went on to win three matches at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles to clinch the match.
 
Scouting Richmond
The Spiders hold a 6-6 overall record, including a 2-1 A-10 Conference record and 1-6 on the road. Richmond is coming off a 4-0 road loss to No. 71 Liberty. The Spiders two league victories were at George Mason (4-0) and against Davidson (4-3), with its lone loss to VCU (6-1) earlier in the season.
 
Richmond will compete at Fordham at 1 p.m. on Friday, prior to Saturday's match.
 
Scouting George Washington
The Revolutionaries are 3-12 overall on the season, while holding a 2-3 conference record and a 2-7 road record. George Washington is currently coming off a 4-0 loss to UNCW and has picked up A-10 wins over George Mason (4-0) and Davidson (4-2). The Revs have lost toA-10 rivals Saint Louis (4-0), Fordham (5-2) and then-ranked No. 44 VCU (6-1).
 
Prior to Sunday's match, George Washington will face Georgetown on Friday morning.

Massachusetts splits the weekend with a match on the road against Bryant on Saturday, April 13, at 11:30 a.m., before hosting A-10 foe Fordham on Sunday, April 14, at 1 p.m.
