Hanson’s sacrifice fly scores Skagerlind to lift the Minutemen over Saint Joseph’s.
UMass improved to 17-22 overall on the year, including 7-7 in the Atlantic 10 with the triumph, while Saint Joseph's moved to 17-21 overall and 6-8 in the league. The victory also marked the second straight A-10 series win for the Mintuemen.
Skagerlind and Austin Burgess led the team with two hits apiece, both registering a double on the day, while Skagerlind had a team-high two runs. Five Minutemen tallied one hit each, as Marc Willi and Michael Toth clubbed their fourth and second home run of the year, respectively, and Braden Sullivan hitting a double. Willi, Toth and Hanson all recorded two RBI, followed by Matt Travisano with one.
The Minutemen and Hawks went through four and a half scoreless innings, before UMass broke through in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 2-0 contest. After Sullivan doubled with one out, Michael Toth cranked a two-run shot over the left center field wall to give Massachusetts the lead. It marked Toth's second of the season.
Saint Joseph's knotted the game up at two apiece in the top of the sixth with a two-run home run. In the bottom of the inning, Hanson reached on fielder's choice as Willi blasted a two-run homer of his own, marking his fourth of the year to give the Minutemen a 4-2 lead.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh frame, UMass hit four straight singles, first from Skagerlind and Burgess to sit at third and first, respectively. Travisano and Hanson hit back-to-back RBI singles to extend the Minutemen's lead by three at 6-3.
The Hawks tied up the contest once again at 6-6 in the eighth with a three RBI long ball. The Minutemen offense kept up the momentum in the ninth, as Skagerlind saw four straight balls to take his place on first. Back-to-back wild pitches allowed Skagerlind to head to second and then third. Burgess took first with a four-pitch walk, before advancing to second. Travisano stepped up and loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch. Hanson hit a sacrifice fly, sending Skagerlind across the dish to walk-off the 7-6 victory over SJU.
Andrew Middleton (2-1) earned his second win of the season allowing no hits, no runs, a walk and striking out two in 1.2 innings of work. Alec Rodriguez took the loss for SJU, facing two batters in the ninth and giving up a run, while walking two.
