Bell Advances To NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

Andrew Bell earns a spot at the NCAA Championships in both three-meter and one-meter dive.

PRINCETON, N.J. – Sophomore Andrew Bell qualified for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships after placing in the top-five in the men's three-meter dive and the top-12 in the men's one-meter dive at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, hosted by Princeton, at DeNunzio Pool on Monday and Tuesday. 

Bell is only the second Minuteman diver in school history to represent Massachusetts at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, as Jason Cook (Class of 2012) became the first diver to attend the event in 2009.

After placing ninth in the Prelims/Quarterfinals of the event with a score of 343.15, Bell took fifth in the Finals of the three-meter dive. Combined with his Prelims score, the South Windsor, Connecticut, native, finished with a total of 730.80 on the day to solidify his spot at the NCAA Championships. In the one-meter dive, Bell landed within the top-10, taking eighth, in the one-meter Prelims/Quarterfinals with a score of 328.55 to move on to the Finals. Bell combined for a total of 664.80, marking a new school record of 12-dives, in the Finals of the event to place eighth and head to the NCAA Championships. 

For the Minutewomen, Shreeya Sinha competed in the women's one-meter dive, finishing the Prelims/Quarterfinals Round with a 190.80, to place 72nd in the event, while finishing the women's three-meter Prelims/Quarterfinals with a six-dive total of 192.75 to take 65th.
