Massachusetts Divers Conclude Regular Season At Northeastern Diving Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts divers will set for the Northeastern Diving Invitational, hosted by Northeastern University, on Saturday, February 10, at the Barletta Natatorium in Boston, Massachusetts, at 12 p.m. In addition to UMass and Northeastern, the University of Rhode Island and Dartmouth College will also be competing.
 
Last Time Out
Massachusetts swim and dive competed on the road against Atlantic 10 foe Fordham last Saturday, as both the Minutemen and Minutewomen dropped the dual meet. Sophomore diver Shreeya Sinha secured first in the one-meter dive with a personal-best total of 268.50, placing herself 10th in the Massachusetts record book. Sinha finished in third in the three-meter dive, tallying a six-dive score of 262.80. Sophomore Andrew Bell took first in both the one-meter and three-meter dives. He scored a 363.50 in the one-meter, while breaking his previous school record in the three-meter dive, earning a personal-best score of 403.73. Graduate student Tommy Cotner finished second in both events. In the one-meter, Cotner scored a 276.60, before earning a season-best score of 313.73 in the three-meter.
 
School Records Set
Sophomore Andrew Bell broke two school records in a dual meet against Boston University (11/4). In the one-meter dive, he tallied a six-dive total of 385.43, while scoring a six-dive total of 397.28 in the three-meter to rank first in school history. He broke his previous record in the three-meter dive, recently, at Fordham, scoring a 403.73, and broke his record total in the one-meter against Bryant with a total of 409.05.
 
Diving In
On the boards, sophomore Salem Howes and Sinha have competed for the Minutewomen. Howes recorded personal-bests in the one-meter dive against Boston University with a score of 246.15, while scoring 231.45 in the three-meter dive against Yale. Sinha dove for the first time this season in the dual meet against Yale, scoring 169.43 in the one-meter dive and 174.53 in the three-meter dive.

For the Minutemen, Bell recorded qualifying scores for the NCAA Division I Men's Championships for March 2024, in the three-meter against Boston University in a dual meet, tallying a score of 397.28 in the three-meter, to claim first in the event and take the top spot in the all-time school/pool records. Against Bryant, Bell recorded a school record of 409.05 in the one-meter, and broke his previous school record in the three-meter at Fordham with a score of 403.73. Zak Teffahi joined Bell on the boards, scoring season-bests of 186.08 in the one-meter and 192.90 in the three-meter dive.
 
Next Up
UMass will take a break and ready for the A-10 Championships on Wednesday, February 21 through Saturday, February 24. The event will start at 10 a.m., before the evening sessions start at 6:30 p.m.
