Massachusetts Hockey Adds Goaltender Jackson Irving To Squad For 2023-24

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey will welcome 6-foot, 172-pound left-catch goaltender Jackson Irving to the squad for 2023-24, UMass head coach Greg Carvel announced on Thursday. Irving, a native of Newbury, Massachusetts is the ninth member of the Minutemen's incoming freshman class, joining forwards Bo Cosman, Dans Locmelis, Jack Musa, Cameron O'Neill, Aydar Suniev and Nicholas VanTassell, defenseman Sebastian Törnqvist and goaltender Michael Hrabal.
"Jackson is a Massachusetts native who will add great depth to our goaltending group as well as add more depth to the character of our team," said Carvel. "We believe that there is a lot of potential for Jackson and his tremendous attitude and work ethic will help him realize his full potential. His youth will bring a lot of energy to our group and we expect him to eventually develop into a goalie that will one day own the net for the Minutemen."
Irving spent the 2022-23 season in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Sioux Falls Stampede where he posted a 3.92 goals-against average and an .888 save percentage over 20 games. He played three prior seasons at Cushing Academy and had a 2.03 GAA and a .926 save percentage in 20 contests in 2021-22.
