Four UMass Women's Track & Field Student Athletes Earn Academic All-District Honors

AMHERST, Mass. – Four members of the University of Massachusetts women's track and field team have been recognized among the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom as members of the 2022-2023 Academic All-District Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators. Senior Voski Armenakyan and juniors Lillian Kirry, Gabriella Pagnini and Faith Richardson represented the Minutewomen on the list.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 28.
Armenakyan, a kinesiology major, earned bronze in hammer throw at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championships (173'6") and finished seventh or better in the event six times this outdoor season. The Warwick, Rhode Island native was a bronze medalist in hammer at the 2022 A-10 Championships and ranks third all-time in program history in hammer (174'5").
Kirry, a nutrition major, qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships for a second straight year in 400 meter hurdles. She captured her second consecutive 400m hurdles A-10 title this spring, setting new championship meet/facility/school records in the process, running 57.74. The Chewelah, Washington native also earned bronze at the A-10 Championships in the 4x400 and placed fourth in 100m hurdles. Kirry took home a silver medal in 100m hurdles at the 2023 Outdoor New England Championships, and placed fourth in the 400m dash. She scored in three events at the 2023 Indoor A-10 Championships, earning silver in the 500m and was the 2023 New England Champion indoors in the 500m & 4x400m relay. Kirry Reached the NCAA Quarterfinals in 400m hurdles in 2022 and won New England titles in 400m hurdles and 4x400 outdoors last year.
Pagnini, a finance and political science major, scored in discus (sixth, 141'5") and shot put (seventh, 42'7") at the 2023 Outdoor Atlantic 10 Championships. The Natick, Massachusetts native ranks third all-time in program history indoors in weight throw at 54 feet 1.75 inches. She scored in shot put at A-10's outdoors in 2022 and indoors in 2023.
Richardson, an English major, scored in the 100 meter dash (5th, 11.93) and the 4x100 meter relay (46.81) at the 2023 Outdoor Atlantic 10 Championships. She was part of the UMass record setting 4x100 relay that ran 46.79 to fourth at the New England Championships, as well. Richardson's 100m time at A-10s was a PR, which ranks second in program history. The Renton, Washington native scored in the 60m dash at the 2023 Indoor A-10 Championships (eighth, 7.78) and earned bronze in the event at the New England Championships. She placed fifth in the 100m and 4x100 at the 2022 Outdoor Atlantic 10 Championships.
