The Minutewomen finish their season with a 12-7 record
ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 3 University of Massachusetts tennis team concluded its 2023 season with a 4-0 loss in the Atlantic 10 Semifinals to the No. 2 seed Fordham University at the USTA National Campus. The Saturday morning match cemented UMass' 12-7 overall record.
UMass dropped the doubles point, with Fordham clutching victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Fordham's Valeria Deminova and Avery Aude defeated Mariya Krasakova and Melisa Senli, 6-1 on court No. 1. The Ram's Carlota Casasampere Escoda and Rachelle Yang claimed a 6-4 set to Dylan Cannon and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul at No.3. The duo of Danielle Hack and Anna Napadiy put up a 5-5 score against Eleni Fasoula and Lindsay Hung of Fordham on court No. 2 before the match came to a halt as Fordham clinched the doubles point.
The Rams pulled away from the Minutewomen, notching wins at No. 4, No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Aude of Fordham mounted a 6-3, 6-0 win over Napadiy on court No. 4, while the Ram's Deminova garnered a victory against Hack, 7-5, 6-0 at No. 1. Fordham clinched the sweep on court No. 2, with Hung defeating Senli, 6-1, 7-6(7). Krasakova, Jonglertrakul and Cannon each went unfinished at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, as the match concluded with a final score of 4-0.
