RJ Luis averaged 18.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Minutemen.

AMHERST, Mass. – Massachusetts freshman RJ Luis was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after leading the Minutemen in scoring last week. Luis averaged 18.5 points and 8.0 rebounds for the week while scoring a team-high 23 points with seven rebounds at Duquesne.

The guard rounded out the week with a tied for team-high 14 points and tied his career-high with nine rebounds in a 71-60 win over St. Bonaventure on Saturday. Luis shot 50-percent from the field and went 11-of-12 from the free throw line, including going 8-of-8 against the Bonnies.

The Miami, Fla. Native also earned the league's weekly award for a newcomer on Jan. 9 and 30.

Luis and the Minutemen begin Atlantic 10 Championship play on Tuesday against Richmond at 11:30 a.m. in Brooklyn.
