Luis Named Atlantic 10 Rookie Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's basketball freshman RJ Luis was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week as announced by the league on Monday afternoon. Luis (Miami, Fla.) averaged 12.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game on the week while posting career-bests in rebounds and assists in Saturday's game at George Washington.

The guard also shot over 47-percent from the field and 67-percent from 3-point range on the week. Luis opened last week's action by scoring 11 and adding five rebounds in Wednesday's home win over Saint Louis. In Saturday's game against the Colonials, Luis finished tied for the team-high in scoring with 13 points to go along with a career-high eight rebounds and a career-best five assists.

The Minutemen return home to the Mullins Center for their next two contests beginning with La Salle on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before hosting Rhode Island on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
