Luis Earns Second Atlantic 10 Rookie Of The Week Honor

RJ Luis was tabbed the A-10 Rookie of the Week after averaging 27 points and six rebounds last week.
AMHERST, Mass. – RJ Luis was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the second time this season as announced by the league on Monday afternoon. Luis (Miami, Fla.) averaged 27 points and six rebounds per game over two contests and eclipsed his career-high in scoring in both games.
Luis posted the first 30-point game by a Minuteman since Dec. of 2020 as he scored a career-high 31 points in a win over Duquesne on Saturday. The freshman went 17-of-18 from the free throw line and added five rebounds in the win. Luis began the week by setting a then career-high in scoring with 23 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists in the win over Richmond. The guard finished the week shooting nearly 57-percent from the field while converting at a 93-percent clip from the free throw line.
The Minutemen hit the road on Wednesday night for a matchup at George Mason at 7 p.m. before returning home to the Mullins Center next Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. tip-off against Davidson as part of Dr. J Day.
