Garrett Wait To Return For Massachusetts Hockey In 2022-23

The forward will use his fifth year of eligibility to extend his career with the Minutemen.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey forward Garrett Wait will use his additional year of eligibility to play an additional season with the Minutemen, returning for the 2022-23 campaign.
"Having the opportunity to come back to UMass was a no-brainer," said Wait. "This place feels like home. The fans bring great energy every night. The staff is unbelievable. My teammates are my brothers. I'm really excited to be coming back to spend my fifth year at UMass."
In two seasons at UMass since transferring from Minnesota following his sophomore campaign, Wait has put up 42 points on 22 goals and 20 assists over 61 contests, helping the Minutemen to a national championship in 2021 and back-to-back Hockey East tournament crowns. He is +35 in his career in a UMass uniform with six power-play goals and three game winners, including the deciding tally in overtime against Minnesota Duluth in the 2021 national semifinal.
Wait put up 25 points in 2021-22 on 13 goals and 12 assists, all career highs for the Edina, Minnesota native who appeared in 32 games this season.
Overall in his college career between Minnesota and UMass, Wait has logged 52 career points (25g, 27a) over 101 contests to date.
