Tennis Sweeps Binghamton, 7-0, For Fourth Straight Victory

The Minutewomen improve to 4-2 on the season.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis team earned its fourth consecutive triumph after blanking Binghamton University, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center. UMass sits at 4-2 overall on the year.
Mariya Krasakova and Vitoria Okuyama paired up at No. 1 doubles and finished first, taking down Caterina Casadei and Maria Pereira of Binghamton, 6-1, before Anna Napadiy and Renata Farima defeated Binghamton's Abby Ackroyd and Lara Kaplan, 6-3, at No. 2. Duo Dylan Cannon and Danielle Hack secured the doubles point for the Minutewomen with a 6-4 win at No. 3 over Kelly Chen and Brielle DeRoberts of Binghamton.
Farima quickly grabbed a singles point after defeating Binghamton's Casadei, 6-1, 6-0 on court No. 2, while Polina Akimova earned a point of her own with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 over Binghamton's Pereira. Napadiy completed her match at No. 1, winning 6-1, 6-1 over Kaplan of Binghamton and Hack notched a point with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Ackroyd of Binghamton on court No. 4. Krasakova and Okuyama both recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins to seal the deal for the Minutewomen on courts No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Massachusetts will take a week off and return to action on Saturday, February 26, at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center, as the team hosts Seton Hall for a 1 p.m., match.
