The defending Atlantic 10 regular season champs open the 2023 campaign at home on Feb. 11 against UMass Lowell.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts women's lacrosse team announced its 16-game schedule for the 2023 season on Thursday morning. The defending Atlantic 10 regular season champions open the campaign at Garber Field on Saturday, Feb. 11 against UMass Lowell for the Kennedy Cup.
The game against the River Hawks marks the first of seven games at Garber Field for the Minutewomen. UMass also plays host for non-conference matchups against Siena and Dartmouth in late February as part of seven non-conference games. The Minutewomen play their first road contest on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at last year's NCAA runner-up Boston College. Three non-conference road games at Holy Cross, UConn, and Brown round out action out of conference.
UMass hosts its first of nine Atlantic 10 games in total on Saturday, March 11 when they take on Richmond at Garber Field in a battle between the two top teams from last year's A-10 standings. The Minutewomen will also host La Salle on March 22 in a midweek contest in addition to Saturday games against Duquesne and George Mason.
The Minutewomen play five of their nine league games away from home, beginning with a March 18 matchup at George Washington before hitting the road for games at St. Bonaventure and Davidson on March 25 and April 1, respectively. UMass travels to VCU and Saint Joseph's to round out conference road play before returning home for the regular season finale against George Mason on Saturday, April 29.
UMass is coming off a 16-4 campaign and an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament a season ago. The Minutewomen posted a 9-0 record in league play to claim the Atlantic 10 regular season title. Head Coach Jana Drummond enters her first year as the head coach in Amherst after helping UMass to an 81-21 record and three NCAA Tournament berths as an assistant coach.
