AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts men's basketball team plays its first of two Basketball Hall of Fame events on Sunday against Hofstra at the Hall of Fame Invitational. The Minutemen and the Pride tip-off in the Barclays Center at 7 p.m.

Basketball Hall of Fame Events
The Minutemen will play two games in conjunction with the Basketball Hall of Fame, beginning with Sunday's Hall of Fame Invitational at the Barclays Center. UMass plays in its backyard in Springfield, Mass. against North Texas for the Hall of Fame Classic on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the MassMutual Center.

Bench Boost
UMass ranks seventh nationally and leads the Atlantic 10 in bench points per game at 35.7. The Minutemen scored a season-high 58 bench points in Monday's win over UAlbany and added 43 points off the bench against UMass Lowell on Thursday. Freshman RJ Luis leads the bench crew with 8.9 points per game while Isaac Kante and Dyondre Dominguez add 8.3 and 8.2, respectively.

Stepping Up
The UMass freshmen have stepped up in the absence of Noah Fernandes the last two games and are averaging a combined 29.5 points during the span. Keon Thompson has scored 12.0 points per game over the last two, including a career-high 13 points in the win over UAlbany. RJ Luis added 14 points in Thursday's game against UMass Lowell while Tafara Gapare poured in a career-high 15 points against UAlbany.

Best Start Since 2013-14
The Minutemen are off to their best start since the 2013-14 season after posting a six-game winning streak to move to 7-1 before falling to the River Hawks on Thursday. The six-game streak was the longest for UMass since the 2014-15 campaign.

Among A-10 Teams
UMass is tied for the second most wins among Atlantic 10 teams with seven as four teams in the league have reached the seven-win mark. Fordham leads the way at 9-1 while UMass is tied with Duquesne for the second-highest win percentage in the conference.

Approaching 300
Head Coach Frank Martin is five wins away from reaching 300 for his career and currently holds a 295-203 record as a collegiate head coach. Martin picked up 171 of his 295 wins in 10 seasons at South Carolina and won 117 games in five seasons at Kansas State.

Looking Ahead
The Minutemen conclude non-conference play on Tuesday, Dec. 20 with a home game against Dartmouth before beginning Atlantic 10 play on New Year's Eve at St. Bonaventure. The first home A-10 game for the Minutemen is against Saint Louis on Wednesday, Jan. 4 in the Mullins Center.
