Defend The 'Chuk
UMass is back home at the Gladchuk Field Hockey Complex for six of its next eight games. The Minutewomen are a perfect 3-0 so far this season in Amherst, and 7-1 over the last two seasons.

Last time out
After bolting out to a 3-0 lead, No. 15 Wake Forest saw Massachusetts storm back with a pair of goals in the fourth quarter to climb within one, but the Minutewomen couldn't find the equalizer as the Demon Deacons narrowly escaped with a 3-2 victory last Sunday afternoon.

In the rankings
UMass remains in the top-25 of the NFHCA poll for the third week in a row, checking in at No. 22. The Minutewomen are also No. 24 in the NCAA RPI, which was released for the first time this season earlier this week.

Tenacious D
Marlise van Tonder has gotten the start in goal for all eight games this season, posting a 5-3 record and a 1.34 goals against average that ranks 18th in the nation. As a team, Massachusetts is seventh in the nation with an .817 save percentage.

van Tonder, meanwhile, is 10th among individuals with a save percentage of .807, thanks in part to 10 saves at No. 15 Wake Forest last weekend, the most saves in a game for a Minutewoman since Johanna von dem Borne made 13 saves on two occasions during the 2018 season.

UMass has held its opponents to two goals or fewer in six of its eight games this season.

Anke Bruemmer inducted into UMass Athletics Hall of Fame
Anke Bruemmer capped a stellar career with UMass field hockey second all-time for most goals (50) and third in points (108) in program history. She won three National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America awards, including a first team accolade in 2000 and second team in 1998 and '99. Bruemmer also earned selection to the 2001 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team in recognition of her classroom work and was the 2001 Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year. Additionally, Bruemmer won two of the conference's major field hockey-specific awards as she was the 1999 Player of the Year and 2001 Defensive Player of the Year.

A four-time selection to the Atlantic 10 10 All-Conference Team from 1998-2001, Bruemmer helped Massachusetts to a 58-31 overall record (.652 win percentage) and 20-1 mark in Atlantic 10 games (.952 win percentage) during her four seasons. UMass advanced to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight in 1999 and 2000 while the squad also made appearances in the tournament during Bruemmer's freshman and senior seasons. She guided Massachusetts to four consecutive Atlantic 10 Tournament championships as the squad went undefeated in eight conference postseason games during her tenure with the team.
