Harris Set To High Jump At NCAA East Preliminary Championships Saturday

The graduate student is looking to earn her second career NCAA Championships berth in the event.
AMHERST, Mass. -Â Graduate student Jada Harris will compete in the first round of high jump at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships on Saturday, May 29, at 1 p.m. at Jax Track at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. The top 12 overall placers will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

To reach the NCAA East Preliminary Championships, Harris posted her qualifying mark of 5 feet, 9.75 inches, a personal best outdoors, at UMass' home meet vs. Vermont and Hartford on April 18, to break her own UMass record.

The Bridgeport, Connecticut, native is making her second trip to NCAAs after qualifying for the East Preliminary Championships in 2019 in both high jump and 100 meter hurdles. She reached the NCAA Championships in high jump that season and was tabbed an honorable mention All-American, finishing 21st.
