Conant And Robinson Lead Women’s Cross Country To Third At A-10 Championships

The duo earned All-Atlantic 10 honors after helping the Minutewomen to their best team finish since 2009.
CEDARVILLE, Ohio – University of Massachusetts women's cross country landed all five of its scorers in the top-35 to capture third at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course. The Minutewomen posted a score of 105 for the squad's best A-10 finish since taking third at the meet in 2009. George Washinton took home the championship with a score of 50.
UMass' No. 1 and No. 2 runners both finished inside the top-15 overall, garnering Atlantic 10 All-Conference nods. Sarah Conant came in ninth in the field of 120 competitors with a time of 18 minutes, 8.8 seconds and Lily Robinson completed the 5K in 12th, crossing the finish at 18 minutes, 15.8 seconds. It marked Conant's third all-conference accolade of her career and best A-10 finish thus far after taking 15th and 12th in her first two A-10 meets. Robinson's honor marked the first of her career. Conant is just the sixth Minutewoman to earn three Atlantic 10 All-Conference accolades in cross country in her career joining four-time honorees, Kristin Cisowksi, Melissa Henderson and Rebecca Donaghue and three-time honorees Heather MacLean and Christina DeRosa.
Colette O'Leary came across in 24th as UMass' third runner, clocking in at 18 minutes, 42.5 seconds and Eugenia Fairhurst took 26th in her A-10 debut in the No. 4 spot for the Minutewomen with a time of 18 minutes, 43.4 seconds.
Grace Phair capped the UMass top-five in 34th overall at 18 minutes, 56.8 seconds.
UMass will next travel to Boston, Massachusetts, for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships in Franklin Park on Friday, November 12.
