Women’s Soccer Records Sixth Shutout In Draw With Bonnies

Megan Olszewski and Bella Mendoza posted their third combined shutout of the year.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team picked up its sixth shutout of the season as they played to a 0-0 draw against St. Bonaventure at Rudd Field on Thursday afternoon. The Minutewomen (9-4-4 Overall, 5-2-2 Atlantic 10) finished with an 18-7 shot advantage on the day.
Megan Olszewski and Bella Mendoza posted their third combined shutout in goal for the Minutewomen with Olszewski picking up a pair of saves in the first half as the pair faced a combined seven shots from the Bonnies.
Chandler Pedolzky led the way offensively for the UMass attack with a game-high five shots with a pair on target while Ashley Lamond added four attempts for a Minutewoman side that put three on target to St. Bonaventure's two. Pedolzky nearly put home the game-winning goal in the 85th-minute, getting her boot up to a cross for a shot that hit the crossbar.
UMass attempted four shots in the overtime period while holding St. Bonaventure to one attempt across the 20 minutes of additional time.
Bella Recinos had what might have been the best scoring chance for either side in the overtime period as the freshman sent a shot across goal in the 98th-minute that was turned away off the far post.
The Minutewomen wrap up the regular season on Sunday at 1 p.m. at La Salle.
