AMHERST, Mass. – UMass women's soccer senior Sini Laaksonen has signed a professional contract with Ferencvárosi Torna Club, the champions of the top Hungarian women's professional league in 2019, the club announced this week.

Since transferring to UMass following her freshman season, the biology major started in 51-of-54 matches, recording 17 points on five goals and seven assists, including two goals this season.  She was the hero for the Minutewomen on Oct. 6 against Rhode Island, converting on a penalty kick in overtime to give UMass the victory. She finished her senior season with three goals.

Laaksonen was a key part of the 2019 Minutewomen squad that entered the postseason as the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament thanks to a 6-3-1 mark in league play, its best finish since 2000. Overall, UMass finished 10-6-3 on the season, marking the first time since 2000 and 2001 that the Minutewomen recorded double-digit wins in consecutive seasons.
