Tennis Runs Win Streak To Three With 6-1 Victory Over Bryant

Minutewomen improve to 3-1 on the season
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis began its weekend with a 6-1 victory over visiting-Bryant at the Bay Road Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon. The win improved UMass to 3-1 overall while Bryant fell to 3-2 on the year.

The Minutewomen took the doubles point for the third straight match as UMass won at No. 1 and No. 3.

Anna Napadiy and Martina Bocchi dominated the No. 1 court again with a 6-1 win over Ada Boru and Sarah Hickey. Shortly after, Jasmin Tripathy and Sarah Mezini sealed their victory on the No. 3 court by a 6-4 margin as UMass headed into singles with a one-point lead.

Napadiy made quick work of her singles opponent with a 6-3, 6-1 score against Hickey as UMass moved in front 2-0. Bocchi made it a 3-0 lead as she downed Boru 6-3, 6-4 minutes later. Ashley Avery then notched the win-sealing point when she bested Aleksi Gottlieb 6-4, 6-4.

Jovana Bogicevic finished off a battle with Megan Tan in three sets for the team's fifth point of the day. After she dropped the first set 5-7, Bogiceivc rallied back for the 5-7, 6-3, 10-3 victory. Tripathy provided the last individual match victory of the day with she bested Manuela Gomez Estrada in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.

The Minutewomen continue their season at Harvard on Sun., Feb. 2 with a 10 a.m. match.
