AMHERST, Mass. – The UMass basketball team is back at the Mullins Center for five of its next seven games, beginning on Saturday afternoon against Duquesne. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on NESNplus and ESPN+.

Saturday's promotions
Leaman Legacy Day is our chance to remember the great Jack Leaman, for who the court is named after. Jack's memory lives on every year through the Leaman Legacy Clinic that will take place prior to the game. Stick around after the game for a post-game shoot around on Jack Leaman Court!

The series with Duquesne
UMass holds a 40-27 record in the all-time series that began in 1975, with wins in six of the last eight meetings overall. The Minutemen are also 22-7 at home (Amherst & Springfield) against the Dukes, with wins in six of the last seven meetings overall and each of the last four.

Stiff competition
UMass has gone up against some of the nation's top teams, including eight currently ranked in the top-100 of the NCAA NET Rankings: Dayton (5), Rutgers (19), Yale (61), Akron (63), Virginia (65), Saint Louis (69), St. John's (79) and Harvard (95).

Duquesne is the ninth NET top-100 opponent this season, and third time the Minutemen have taken on an opponent ranked or receiving votes in the AP poll.

From deep
UMass is shooting better than 35% beyond the arc (162-of-456), and its 162 made threes are tied for third in the Atlantic 10 this season and 78th in the nation. UMass is 67th in the NCAA with 8.5 three-pointers per game, while Carl Pierre is 25th in the country and leading the A-10 with 58 made threes.

On Jan. 8 against La Salle, captain Carl Pierre became the 52nd player in team history to reach 1000 career points. His 23 points on Wednesday George Mason moved him into sole possession of 41st on UMass' all-time scoring list.

Tre ball
Freshman Tre Mitchell had a career-high 28 points on Jan. 15 vs. St. Bonaventure, and is seventh in the Atlantic 10 and first among rookies averaging 15.3 points per game this season. Mitchell's 28-point night against the Bonnies were the most for a UMass freshman since Rashaun Holloway scored 31 on Feb. 28, 2004.

He followed it up with a 14 points - 12 rebound night at George Mason on Wednesday for his second double-double of the season, tied with Samba Diallo for the team-high.

Double 'em up
Samba Diallo's 11 point - 14 rebound performance on Jan. 5 at Saint Louis marked the first career double-double for the sophomore. He's the third Minuteman this season to record his first-ever double-double, joining Carl Pierre (23 points, 10 rebounds at Akron) and Tre Mitchell (14 points, 12 rebounds vs. St. John's).

Diallo followed it up with a 12 point - 12 rebound night vs. La Salle on Jan. 8 for his second straight.

We'll be taking that
The Minutemen are averaging 7.3 steals per game, good for 103rd in the NCAA, including a season-high 13 against Maine, the fourth time this season and fifth time in the Matt McCall era that a UMass team had at least 10 steals in a game.

The Minutemen are also 97th in the country and sixth in the conference in forced turnovers (14.79), and have forced their opponents into 20+ turnovers three times (CCSU, Maine, Saint Louis).
