The final part of our Super-Senior Reflections Series
AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts football tight end Kyle Horn is one of the team's redshirt senior student-athletes, alongside Mike Caggiano, Michael Curtis, Cooper Garcia, Mike Yerardi and Randall West. Caggiano, Horn, West and Yerardi arrived at UMass as classmates in 2015, while Curtis joined the group as a junior college transfer in Dec., 2016, and Garcia did so from junior college in 2018.
Each of the fifth-year team members reflected on their time at the University of Massachusetts for UMassAthletics.com.

Coming into college it was never my plan to stay for a fifth year, but it's become a great opportunity to be a part of an exceptional organization and to continue to play the game I love at the FBS level.Â
On top of that, I get to play this fifth year with some of my best and closest friends, guys I have known since the day I moved onto campus during the summer before my freshman year: Mike (Caggiano), Randall (West) and Mike (Yerardi). I can't imagine playing this season right now without them and it's fortunate that we get to play one more year together. I have met so many wonderful people in the past four years and it is unreal that I will be able to stay one more year with the same group of guys. We've been through so much together over the last four years and a lot of our good friends and teammates have come and gone in that time.Â
This experience has been extra special for me in a few ways. It's unbelievable to be able to play for my home state. There is an indescribable sense of pride I get every time I see our jerseys and see 'Massachusetts' written across the front of them. On top of that, I know how much my parents have appreciated the opportunity even more, being able to be here at McGuirk Alumni Stadium for every one of our home games over the years.
The University of Massachusetts is truly a special place and it means so much to my family. My father, Ken, played football here back in the 1970s and my older brother, Kris, was a decathlete here. My ability to also play football here has created a bond between the three of us I cannot put into words. Amherst has become our second home and it's been such a beautiful place to call 'home' all these years.
Â
Horn and the Minutemen play at home for the first time this season on Sat., Sept. 7 against Southern Illinois at 3:30 p.m.
