Tennis Caps Positive Weekend At The Yale Invitational

Minutewomen take on Dartmouth, Denver during Sunday's slate
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - University of Massachusetts tennis ended its three-day stay at the Yale Invitational with singes action against Denver and Dartmouth as well as doubles play versus the Big Green, and collected four wins during Sunday's finale.
"Overall, this was a positive weekend and another step in the right direction for our program," head coach Juancarlos Nunez said. "The Yale Invite is one of the strongest tournaments in the Northeast and I am proud to see us compete so well against such strong opposition. We have a good squad that is building in confidence through each match and I can also see in our eyes how hungry we are to continue working to get better each day."
Massachusetts took a pair of doubles matches from Dartmouth with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Janja Kovacevic and Martina Bocchi combined for a 6-4 triumph over Ashley Hess and Racquel Lyn while Jodie Lawrence-Taylor and Anna Napadiy worked past Nicole Conard and Chidimma Okpara with a 7-6 (3) final score.
In singles play versus Denver, the Minutwomen claimed win at No. 1 and No. 3. Kovacevic and Napadiy were the victors again as Kovacevic secured a 6-3, 6-0 match over Camille Versen-Anderson while Napadiy claimed a dominant 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Tatum Burger.Â
The Minutewomen continue their fall tournament play on Thurs., Oct. 17 with competition in the ITA Northeast Regional.
