Tennis Wins Three Matches On Yale Invite Day One

Minutewomen face Brown, Dartmouth during Saturday's action
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - University of Massachusetts tennis began its trip to the Yale Invitational with doubles competition against Yale and singles matches versus Boston College on Friday afternoon. The Minutewomen took one doubles match from Yale before the team nabbed two wins in singles play against the Eagles.
Freshman Shiran Arol Wiegand and junior Jovana Bogicevic won during doubles play with a hard-fought 7-6 (4) outcome over Yale's Lauren Gillinov and Kathy Wang at No. 4. Arol Wiegand followed with her second win of the day during singles play when she took a 6-2, 6-1 match from Boston College's Maria Ross at the No. 5 spot.
The Minutewomen also won at No. 1 singles when senior Janja Kovacevic downed Boston College's top player, Natasha Irani 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Massachusetts continues participation in the Yale Invitational with Saturday matches, beginning with doubles against Brown at 1 p.m. before singles play against Dartmouth.
