JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of Massachusetts men's track and field senior John Long capped his collegiate career on Friday, competing in javelin at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships at North Florida's Hodges Stadium.
Long threw 189 feet, 11 inches on his third attempt of the day to place 42nd in the field of 48 competitors.
The Danvers, Massachusetts, native threw a career-best 210 feet, 8 inches to win javelin at the Atlantic 10 Championships this spring and finishes his career third all-time in program history, the furthest toss since Chad Schwarz threw 210 feet, 10 inches in 2001. He earned bronze in javelin at the A-10 Championships in 2018.
