Men’s Track & Field Victorious at UNH Pre-Conference Meet

Kortkamp wins two events to help the Minutemen to first in the field of six teams.
DURHAM, N.H. – University of Massachusetts men's track and field totaled 141 points to lead a six-team field at the UNH Pre-Conference meet on Saturday. The Minutemen were 20 points clear of UMass Lowell (121), while host New Hampshire was third (89), followed by Vermont (75), Maine (57) and Dartmouth (55).
Junior Noah Kortkamp won two events on the day. He led three UMass scorers in 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.63 seconds, while Hunter Gray was third (14.89) and William Cruikshank placed fifth (15.60). In long jump, Kortkamp and Gray took the top two spots with marks of 22 feet, 6.5 inches and 22 feet, 0.25 inches respectively.
Hayden Gray was the runner up in both 100 meter (10.88) and 200 meter dash (22.25), while Andrew Hanwell was fourth in the 200 at 22.51 seconds.
Colin Stoddard and Jackson Walker both collected points in 400 meter hurdles, placing third (56.46) and fifth (57.76), respectively. Rounding out the individual scorers on the track, seniors Brian Gendron and Kyle Guzman earned fourth place finishes in 400 meter dash (52.83) and 800 meter run (1:54.84).
UMass' 4x400 meter relay of Stoddard, Gendron, Nichoals Santos and Hanwell posted a winning time of 3 minutes, 23.90 seconds.
Senior Nathan Adeyemi won triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, 4 inches and Samuel Darkwa, Jr. landed third at 42 feet, 7 inches.
In pole vault, junior Mason Lord cleared 14 feet, 11 inches to capture second and Jack Perry followed in third at 13 feet, 11.25 inches.
Sophomore Coston O'Brien claimed second in shot put (48'10.25") and third in discus (139'9"). Senior Evan Burton scored in three events: shot put (fifth, 45'0.5"), discus (149'04") and hammer (154'7") and Matthew McDermott added a point to the team total with his sixth-place finish in discus (132'5").
Freshmen Joseph SanGiacomo and Joseph Manchester both scored in javelin, taking fifth (148'9") and sixth (142'9"), respectively.
UMass will return to action next Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5, when the squad will host the Atlantic 10 Championships at the UMass Track & Field Complex.
