Deveau Earns A-10 Women’s Field Performer Of The Week Recognition

The redshirt senior broke her own heptathlon record at the Virginia Challenge last weekend.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's track and field redshirt senior Bridget Deveau has been named the Atlantic 10 Women's Field Performer of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. It marks the first A-10 weekly honor of the outdoor season for the Minutewomen.
 
Deveau broke her own school record in heptathlon down at University of Virginia's Virginia Challenge last weekend, finishing third with a score of 5,324 points, improving upon her previous record of 5,048 set in 2016.
 
The Fall River, Nova Scotia native opened up day one by finishing 10th in 100 meter hurdles to begin the heptathlon competition with a time of 14.69 for 883 points and claimed ninth in high jump at 5 feet, 2.5 inches for 724 points. She threw 38 feet, 6.25 inches in shot put to place fifth for 644 points and was eighth in 200 meter dash at 26.72 seconds for 735 points. On day two, she was fourth in long jump with a mark of 18 feet, 10.75 inches to collect 777 points. She then closed out the competition by winning javelin (132 feet, 2 inches, 637 points) and 800 meter run (2:15.34, 888 points).
 
The Minutewomen will be back in action this Saturday, April, 27, at the UNH Pre Conference Meet, which begins at 11 a.m. in Durham, New Hampshire.
