Minutewomen Win Four Events At URI Coaches Tribute Meet

Harris leads the way for UMass with first place showings in both 60 meter dash and 60 meter hurdles
KINGSTON, R.I. – In a weekend that saw University of Massachusetts women's track and field split its squad between two meets, the Minutewomen picked up four individual wins at the unscored URI Coaches Tribute meet on Saturday.

Junior Jada Harris led the way for UMass as she tied her personal best in the 60 meter dash, taking first in 7.90 seconds. Junior Danielle Reicherts and sophomore Abby Collins both placed in the top-five, as well, taking second (7.92) and fourth (7.95), respectively. Harris was also victorious in 60 meter hurdles at 8.61 seconds, while Collins was third in 200 meter dash at 26.26 seconds to round out the top performers for the Minutewomen on the track.

Sophomore Danielle Notarfrancesco claimed the top spot in shot put with a toss of 46 feet, 11.75 inches, while sophomore Lauren LaDere was fifth at 42 feet, 4.75 inches. Notarfrancesco also earned a seventh place finish in weight throw with a mark of 50 feet, 8.25 inches.

Sophomore Ivana Nyemeck jumped 36 feet, 11.5 inches to first in triple jump and freshman Emily McDonald took fourth at 36 feet, 3 inches.

Reicherts was third in long jump at 18 feet, 0.25 inches, followed by senior Charlotte Robison in fourth (17 feet, 10.25 inches).

Senior Kayla Rorke took sixth in pole vault after clearing 10 feet, 8 inches and freshman Sophia Casciano was eighth at 9 feet, 8 inches. Freshman Tyler Orlandella and sophomore Patricia Douglas tied for eighth in high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 2.25 inches.

The Minutewomen will be idle next weekend, returning to action at the Atlantic 10 Championships in Fairfax, Virginia, on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23-24.
