Men’s Track & Field Scores In Three Events On Day One Of New England Championships

Burton, Lord and the Minutemen’s distance medley relay squad collected points.
ROXBURY, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's track and field earned points in three events on day one of the New England Championships at Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center on Friday. Through five events scored, the Minutemen sit 11th in the team standings out of 18 teams with six points.
Senior Evan Burton was the top individual finisher for UMass on day one, taking seventh in weight throw at 57 feet, .25 inches.
Junior Mason Lord picked up a point for the Minutemen with an eighth-place showing in pole vault, clearing 14 feet, 11 inches.
UMass' distance medley relay squad of senior Brian Gendron, freshman Lucas Honohan, junior Nicholas Santos and senior Zachary Frahlich combined for a sixth-place time of 10 minutes, 7.69 seconds.
The Minutemen will wrap up competition in the New England Championships tomorrow, Feb. 2, with day two action kicking off at 10:15 a.m.
