Minutewomen Conclude Fall Slate With Final Day At Big Green Invite

HANOVER, N.H. - University of Massachusetts tennis capped off its fall season of competition with its final day at the Big Green Invitational on Sunday. The Minutewomen won a pair of singles matches on the day, one each for senior Janja Kovacevic and rookie Shiran Arol Wiegand.

Massachusetts took its two wins on the day at No. 1 and No. 6. Kovacevic bested Chidimma Okpara 6-0, 6-3 and Arol Wiegand downed Jingyi Peng 6-0, 7-5.

The Minutewomen nearly took two more matches from the Big Green at No. 2 and No. 3. Sophomore Jodie Annie Lawrence-Taylor and junior Anna Napadiy fought back after first set losses by 6-1 and 6-3 margins, respectively to force tiebreakers after Lawrence-Taylor claimed her second set, 6-3, and Napadiy did so, 6-1. However, both fell in their tie-breakers, 10-8.
