Massachusetts Seeded No. 2 in Atlantic 10 Championship

Minutewomen to face Richmond in league semifinals on Friday
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Massachusetts field hockey has been seeded No. 2 in the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship, the league office announced Sunday afternoon. The Minutewomen will match up in the Semifinals with third-seeded and tournament host Richmond on Fri., Nov. 8. Game time is 2 p.m. at Richmond's Crenshaw Field.
Regular season champion Saint Joseph's claimed the top seed and Lock Haven was slotted No. 4. Those sides will meet in the other Semifinal game on Friday at 11 a.m. Both Semifinal winners will advance to the Championship Game on Sat., Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. All three games over the entire weekend will be streamed live on ESPN+.
It was an incredible stretch of field hockey that secured UMass a spot in the tournament field to begin with. After starting the A-10 schedule 1-2, the Minutewomen went on to win their final five games, including an absolute thriller at home vs. VCU on Fri., Nov. 1. After the sides played a scoreless regulation and two overtimes, VCU took a 2-0 lead in the subsequent penalty shootout before the Minutewomen rallied and ultimately claimed a 1-0 victory in the 10th round.
Single-day tickets are available at Crenshaw Field on game days for $6 (adults) and $4 (under 18/senior citizens). All students of Atlantic 10 institutions are admitted free with a valid ID.
