Boric And Weeks Named UMass Student-Athletes Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts senior Maja Boric of the women's swimming and diving team and freshman T.J. Weeks from men's basketball were named the UMass Student-Athletes of the Week presented by UMassFive College Credit Union on Tuesday morning. Guest speakers at Wednesday's luncheon will be football defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, women's basketball assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Candice Walker, and men's basketball special assistant to the head coach and chief of staff Paul Cormier.

Boric (Zagreb, Croatia) won her 11th and 12th consecutive diving events to start the 2019-20 season on Saturday at Rhode Island. The senior scored 297.00 to win the 1-Meter Dive before going on to led a one-two UMass finish with a top-score of 285.37 in the 3-Meter.

Weeks (Warwick, R.I.) dropped in 23 points off the bench in his collegiate debut against UMass Lowell, the most for a UMass rookie in his debut in more than 20 years. The freshman added nine points off the bench at Fairfield to help UMass improve to 2-0 and pick up a road win on his way to earning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors.
