Kopec Claims Second At Harvard Multi Meet To Lead Minutewomen

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Several University of Massachusetts women's track and field multi-event athletes were in action on Friday, competing in pentathlon at the Harvard Multi Meet Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Sophomore Kira Kopec was the top finisher for the Minutewomen, claiming second in the field of 17 competitors with 3,319 points. Kopec picked up 612 points after winning long jump with a mark of 17 feet, 0.5 inches, she was second in shot put with a toss of 33 feet, 2 inches for 537 points and capped the day as the runner up in the 800m with a time of 2 minutes, 27.40 seconds for 726 points.

Sophomore Emma Jones placed seventh with 2949 points, aided by a strong showing in 60m hurdles to open the competition, taking second in 9.27 seconds for 854 points.

Freshman Tyler Orlandella was 10^th (2,874 points), freshman Jensen Kingsley captured 12^th (2,853 points) and freshman Jessica Green landed 16^th (2,340 points).

The Minutewomen will continue competition at Harvard with tomorrow's Beantown Challenge getting under way at 11 a.m.
