Women’s Track & Field In Action At Beantown Challenge On Saturday

The Minutewomen posted four top-eight finishes on the day.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's track and field was in action at the Beantown Challenge, hosted by Harvard University on Saturday. Senior Emilie Cowan's runner-up showing in the 500 meter dash highlighted four top-eight finishes on the day for the Minutewomen who were eighth out of 10 teams with 21 points.
Cowan ran 1 minute, 14.88 seconds to second in the 500 meter dash, grabbing eight points for UMass. Junior Jada Harris was the Minutewomen's other individual scorer on the track, placing fifth in the 60 meter hurdles final at 8.73 second after qualifying out of preliminaries with a time of 8.78 seconds.
Sophomore Danielle Notarfrancesco claimed fourth in shot put with a throw of 46 feet, 2.75 inches.
UMass' 4x880 yard relay team of freshman Colette O'Leary, freshman Grace Pettengill, Cowan and sophomore Bryanna Rivers claimed fifth in 9 minutes, 44.92 seconds.
The Minutewomen will be back in action next Saturday, Jan. 19, when the squad will head to Kingston, Rhode Island for the Sorlein Invitational at URI.
