CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's track and field junior Hunter Gray leads a field of nine competitors in the heptathlon through day one at the Harvard Multi Meet in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Gray paced the field on day one with 2,799 points through four events.

Gray scored 806 points in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.22 seconds, taking the runner-up spot to open the competition. He placed second in long jump, as well, with a leap of 22 feet, 5.75 inches, good for 778 points.

Gray picked up 528 points in shot put (seventh, 35'1.75") and capped the day by winning high jump, clearing 6 feet, 1.5 inches for 687 points.

Action resumes for Gray tomorrow, Jan. 12, with the final three heptathlon events, beginning with 60 meter hurdles. The rest of the Minutemen squad will be in action at Harvard's Beantown Challenge.
