MacLean Tabbed A-10 Women’s Track Performer of the Week

The redshirt senior broke her own facility and program records in the 800 meter run last weekend.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's track and field redshirt senior Heather MacLean has been tabbed as the Atlantic 10 Women's Track Performer of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. It marks MacLean's first honor of the outdoor season and the second straight week that a member of the Minutewomen has received the award.
 
In her first time running the event since last outdoor season, MacLean took down her own facility and school records in the 800 meter run, with a winning time of 2 minutes, 3.45 seconds at the UMass Pre-Conference meet, besting her previous school record of 2:06.43. Not only a New England qualifier, the time also currently ranks fifth in the nation this season, second in the NCAA East Region.
 
The Minutewomen won the Pre-Conference meet in a field of six teams with 215 points and will return to action this weekend, competing in the Atlantic 10 Championships in Fairfax, Virginia this Saturday and Sunday, May 5-6.
