UMass Contends With Ivy Leaguers Yale, Dartmouth On Big Green Invite Day Two

Crawford, Avery win in doubles
HANOVER, N.H. - University of Massachusetts tennis completed its second day at the Big Green Invitational, split between competition against Yale and Dartmouth. The Minutewomen conclude their time in Hanover with the third day of action on Sunday.
The Bulldogs took the four doubles matches the teams completed. Janja Kovacevic and Martina Bocchi stepped to the No. 1 court, but fell 6-1, 6-2 to Raissa Lou and Jessie Gong. Ruth Crawford and Anna Napadiy falted at No. 2 with a 6-4 loss to Samantha Martinelli and Amy Yang while Ashley Avery and Jasmin Tripathy also dropped a 6-4 decision to Kathy Wang and Caroline Dunleavy in No. 3. Sarah Cameron and Lauren Gillinov secured a 6-1 win over a mixed pairing of UMass sophomore Jovana Bogicevic and Yale senior Caroline Amos.
Yale claimed each of the seven singles contests on the day. Napadiy and Jessie Gong worked to a third set, but ultimately Napadiy fell 4-6, 7-6, 6-0, while Tripathy battled back and forth with Wang in the No. 7 slot before she dropped a 6-4, 6-3 outcome.
Massachusetts collected a doubles win over Dartmouth with a 7-6 (4) triumph by Crawford and Avery over Big Green's Allison Chuang and Nina Paripovich.
